Brit Anlar is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Amsterdam in the Department of Political Science. Prior to her position at the UvA, she was employed as Research Manager at Future Caucus, the largest nonpartisan organization of young lawmakers in the United States. She was also a 2023-2024 recipient of the prestigious American Political Science Association Congressional Fellowship, where she served as a Policy and Communications Fellow for the Congressional Democratic Women’s Caucus. She has published several academic articles and international reports on young adult political representation in the United States and globally, and is the founder of the Youth Political Representation Research Network. She is also the co-editor of a forthcoming edited volume, Youth Political Representation: A Global Perspective on Young Adults’ Presence in Political Institutions (Palgrave Studies in Young People and Politics). From 2019-2023, she served as the Lead Graduate Researcher on the Young Elected Leaders Project at the Eagleton Institute of Politics. She has received several awards for her research on young adult political representation including the William A. Steiger Fund for Legislative Studies (2024), the Carrie Chapman Catt Prize for Research in Women and Politics, honorable mention (2020), the William Lyon and Meredith Porte Peace Fund (2020), and the Barbara Callaway Award for Research on Women and Politics (2020).
