ANU JUVONEN
EPD Network President & Executive Director of Demo Finland
Ms Anu Juvonen is President of the EPD Network and the Executive Director of Demo Finland – Political Parties of Finland for Democracy. She has worked over 17 years in the field of development policy and international affairs.
She has worked long term in Nepal in the field of education; in Ethiopia, as an expert in community participation and gender; and recently in Sri Lanka, where she worked as Head of Good Governance for an international NGO. Additionally, she has made numerous short-term missions to different countries in Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Zambia, Tunisia, Mozambique) and Asia (Vietnam, Myanmar, India, Sri Lanka and Nepal). Ms Juvonen has worked as a consultant, a civil servant and worked in CSOs, taking varying roles, from CSO coordination related to the EU presidency and the ASEM summit to advocacy and campaigning. She has been with Demo Finland for over 3 years, first as a Director of Programmes and (since early 2016) as acting Executive Director. She has held various board positions, from being the vice-chair of an umbrella NGO with 300 members to being a board member of the EPD. Ms Juvonen holds an MA in Development Studies and a BA (Hons) in Social Anthropology – both from the University of Sussex, UK. In addition, she has completed studies at University of Helsinki. She is fluent in Finnish, English and Swedish, and has a basic knowledge of German and Spanish.
