Fernando Sampedro Marcos has served as the Secretary of State for the European Union since 2023. A career EU official, he previously served in the Cabinet of the President of the European Commission. He brings 25 years of extensive experience in European affairs and international relations, having held postings in Brussels, Santiago de Chile, Copenhagen, and Spain. He holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Valladolid, where he received the National Graduation Prize and the Archimedes Research Prize. He also earned a Master’s in International Management from the Centre for Economic and Commercial Studies (CECO) and has completed advanced studies at the London School of Economics, the University of Skövde, and the University of Copenhagen.
