LIUDMYLA YANKINA
Co-Founder and Chairperson of Civis Fortis
Liudmyla Yankina is the Co-Founder and Chairperson of Civis Fortis, a Human Rights NGO, Foundation for Civil Society Protection. A human rights advocate, she is widely recognized for her enduring efforts to defend Ukrainian civil society and support at-risk activists (on territories temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation, as well as on territories under the jurisdiction of the Ukrainian government). Her contributions have earned both national and international acclaim, including the National Human Rights Award and the OSCE Democracy Defender Award for her impactful work. Throughout her career, she has led initiatives to document and monitor violations against human rights defenders, enabling effective advocacy and evidence-based protection strategies. Currently, she serves as a member of the Public Integrity Council and leads the working group on the protection of activists and journalists within the International Council of Experts on War Crimes, operating under the Prosecutor General’s Office.
